About the time of Buddha parinibbana, Buddha assigned the king of Deva to protect the Island of Lanka (Now Thiri Mingala Kyun) where the Buddha Sasana will be established in the future after it disappeared from the main continent of India。So the island of Lanka since, known to be a legendary island where Buddhism was established and prospered。
The Wizaya story is a legendary story put into play (Zat) in most Theravada countries。
It is a strange story started out with a princess and a lion king from both produced Sihabahu and later to Vujaya。Then from Vijaya and Yakkhani produced another two human beings…. Sakka is responsible to protect the island and the Buddha sasana。
