Dear Dhamma Friends:     Last updated on 2014/2558 9 8, a full moon day;

There are two types of suttas; one that addressed to Bhikkhu, and the other
addressed to householders in the Pali Canon。
 

If a house holder read a sutta that addresses to Bhikkhu, then whatever it
said in the sutta are meant for Bhikkhu and not directly applicable to
householder。 As an example, if the sutta said, Oh , Bhikkhu's, Buddha meant
to address those who already went forth, a homeless ascetic (Bhikkhu)。 All
practices and dhamma are meant to instruct the Bhikkhu。  Monks usually read
most of the suttas applicable to them。 So, many Monks would preach the sutta
in the context of the Bhikkhu status rather than the householder。 In
Theravada tradition, remember that householder are to support Monks to gain
Arahatship  and that householder could only hope to take rebirth in the
blissful world (Deva and Brahma)。 This is the tradition, because we could
only fit into the right sutta。
 

Here this Saleyyaka sutta, is the right sutta that was meant for the
householder like you and me。
